In a heartwarming display of world-renowned Sri Lankan hospitality, tourism authorities have stepped forward to assist international visitors facing unexpected travel challenges. Following the recent disruptions in global air travel due to the Middle East crisis, Sri Lanka Tourism has launched a special initiative to provide free daily meals to tourists currently stranded in the country.
Responding to Unforeseen Travel Disruptions
The initiative comes as a response to sudden flight cancellations, airport closures, and the suspension of several airline services that left many travelers unable to return home as planned. Understanding the stress and financial burden caused by such delays, Sri Lankan tourism officials acted swiftly to ensure the well-being of all guests.
Collaborative Support for Our Guests
This thoughtful gesture is a collaborative effort led by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), in partnership with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM).
The program aims to offer a sense of security and care, proving that even during global uncertainties, Sri Lanka remains a welcoming and safe haven for travelers.
Program Details & Location
For any foreign tourists affected by flight delays, nutritious meals were provided daily from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM) premises.
A True Reflection of Sri Lankan Spirit
Sri Lanka’s commitment to its visitors goes beyond just sightseeing. This initiative highlights the nation’s core values of empathy and care. Whether it’s exploring our ancient heritage or navigating through a travel crisis, the island ensures that no guest is left behind.
“We want our visitors to feel at home, even when their travel plans are disrupted. This program is a small token of our hospitality to ensure they are comfortable while waiting for their next flight.” – Tourism Officials.
